Company profile

Nanofilm Technologies International Limited, founded in 1999 and headquartered in Singapore, describes NTI Nanofilm as a global leader in nanotechnology solutions rather than only as a general provider of nanotechnology products. Its nanotechnology specialization spans advanced coatings, thin-film equipment, nanofabrication, and hydrogen fuel cell innovations, giving the company four named technology areas in its stated portfolio. Nanofilm Technologies International Limited leverages proprietary technologies to enhance product performance, durability, and sustainability across electronics, automotive, medical, and industrial applications. The company operates offices and facilities in Singapore, Vietnam, China, Japan, India, and Germany and serves customers worldwide with materials science and precision engineering solutions. Nanofilm Technologies International Limited has been listed on the Singapore Exchange since 2020 and states a continuing commitment to innovation and sustainability in high-performance coatings and advanced materials. Nanofilm Technologies International Limited also describes itself as a leading provider of nanotechnology solutions that combines proprietary technologies with core competencies in R&D, engineering, and production to deliver technology-based solutions across a wide range of industries. Its solutions are positioned as catalysts that enable customers to achieve high value-add advancements in end-products in an environmentally sustainable manner, connecting materials and process capabilities with customer product development. The company reports more than 24 years of experience, R&D spending above 8%, more than 100 patents granted and pending, and more than 300 R&D and engineering staff as indicators of its research and engineering base. Its stated mission is to be a key catalyst enabling advancement of customers' products in a sustainable manner, while its vision is to integrate nanotechnology in advanced materials and nanoproducts into daily life. Using proprietary advanced materials and nanofabrication capability, Nanofilm Technologies International Limited says it has repeatedly redrawn material-science boundaries and supported mass commercialization of mission-critical applications and end-products across multiple industries and markets. The company's milestones begin in 1999, when Nanofilm was founded and the team made a breakthrough in FCVA technology, followed in 2000 by TAC-ON® becoming an industry-standard coating in the hard disc head. In 2002 the company established Nanofilm Vacuum Coating in Shanghai, and in 2003 TAC-ON® and MiCC® were successfully applied in semiconductor packaging moulds and tools while Nanofilm Technologies Japan was established. Further milestones include TAC-ON® application in printer components and vacuum coating equipment becoming a standard for optical lens mould coating in 2004, a Tokyo subsidiary in 2007, and a large-scale vacuum coating service and system launch in China in 2008. In 2012 Nanofilm Technologies International Limited commercialized a CdTe thin-film solar-cell production line and developed low- and high-temperature PVD inline systems for the photovoltaic industry, followed by a commercialized coating solution for piston rings in 2013. The company expanded NVC Shanghai production capacity in 2016, launched a smart factory in 2017, invested in Mango (Nanofab) and added nanofabrication capacity in 2018, and expanded Nanofab production capacity in Vietnam in 2019. Its later milestones include the Group IPO in Singapore in 2020, establishment of Sydrogen for Hydrogen Energy Solutions and a second China production site in 2021, and new coating centres in Huizhou and Zigong plus Vietnam Fab 2 construction in 2022. Nanofilm Technologies International Limited relocated its global headquarters within Singapore in 2023, established Nanofilm Advanced Materials India in Chennai and acquired AxynTeC Dünnschichttechnik GmbH in Germany in 2024, then acquired EuropCoating GmbH and expanded Vietnam Site 2 operations in 2025.

The FCVA Batch System integrates Nanofilm Technologies International Limited's proprietary FCVA thin-film coating technology with a flexible multi-source configuration that includes an FCVA source, ion-beam source, magnetron-sputtering source, and pulsed DC bias. The FCVA Batch System delivers dense, uniform, high-quality coatings for semiconductor backend packaging and precision manufacturing applications, directly connecting the coating platform with semiconductor production needs. Its patented double-bend electromagnetic filtration system removes macro particles and enables smooth, clean ta-C coatings with wear resistance, anti-sticking performance, corrosion protection, and low friction. Dedicated coating recipes support cavity bars, lead frames, precision tooling, ESD coating applications, and other complex parts, while drum-based planetary motion supports uniform coating on 3D objects and different substrate materials. A coating temperature below 100 °C expands suitability for heat-sensitive and dimension-critical components, and the fully automated system supports efficient production, consistent coating quality, and a coating range up to 1,300 Ø x 900 H mm. The FCVA Load Lock Mold Coater is designed for wafer chucks, precision molds, and critical semiconductor components that require ultra-smooth ta-C coatings, ultra-low particles, clean contact surfaces, wear resistance, and stable release performance. Its separated load lock and process chambers reduce vacuum cycle time while helping limit contamination, matching the needs of semiconductor components where clean process conditions are important. A key feature of the FCVA Load Lock Mold Coater is proprietary X-Bend filtration technology, which removes macro particles during FCVA deposition to enable cleaner, smoother, and more particle-controlled coatings for semiconductor manufacturing. MiCC® is a nanocrystalline chromium nitride ceramic coating developed for semiconductor backend packaging tools and uses patented FCVA technology to form a dense protective layer with low surface energy, low friction, and smooth release performance that helps reduce material sticking. Nanofilm Technologies International Limited also offers DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) and nanocomposite coatings powered by proprietary Filtered Cathodic Vacuum Arc (FCVA) technology for semiconductor manufacturing. Those semiconductor coatings are described as providing exceptional hardness, ultra-low friction, superior adhesion, and enhanced thermal and chemical resistance to address demanding production requirements. The semiconductor application set includes wafer lapping carriers and lead frame carriers, two carrier-related areas where advanced coatings are used for critical tools and manufacturing support. Other listed semiconductor applications include wire bonding and ESD anodized aluminium, linking the coating portfolio with bonding operations and electrostatic-discharge-related surfaces. The application list further includes TSV/TGV and elastomer uses, extending the company's semiconductor coating scope to additional structures and materials named in its offering. Nanofilm Technologies International Limited positions these advanced coatings as a way to improve reliability of semiconductor manufacturing for critical tools and carriers in an environment where precision, durability, contamination control, equipment wear, ESD, and surface degradation are recurring process challenges. The semiconductor coating page states that traditional coatings can fall short in addressing equipment wear, electrostatic discharge (ESD), and surface degradation, which can lead to higher maintenance costs, reduced yield, and process inefficiencies.
