For retrofits that need a conveyor to move up and down without excavating the floor, ZCA provides a lifting approach that does not require space to house a cylinder. By eliminating cylinder-storage space, ZCA can reduce the required chassis height by up to 90%, lowering the overall height and weight of an AGV and enabling lifting equipment to be installed without digging a pit. Because ZCA does not have an overheating concern, it can run at a 100%ED duty cycle and is suited to applications with short takt times. ZCA supports high-precision multi-point positioning stops and continuous operation. ZCA consists mainly of a chain, drive unit, and storage unit, and its Zip Chain engages two specially shaped chains on a dedicated sprocket to form a single columnar chain. When stored, the Zip Chain folds into a low case whose height is about 10～15% of the stroke length, reducing the required space compared with pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders and supporting installation where space is limited. Compared with other linear-drive devices, ZCA can fit in smaller spaces, reaches a maximum speed of 1000mm/s, and supports high-precision multi-point stops at arbitrary positions with a 100% load duty ratio (ED). ZCA can be installed in push-up, horizontal, or hanging orientations, with a linear guide required in the direction of travel; hanging use requires confirmation of the actual application and conditions for safety. Its wear resistance is described as avoiding chain elongation, with an expected operating life of 4,000km. Applications shown include parts-tray stacking, furnace-door opening and closing, pallet transfer, and AGV or AMR lifting, with benefits including more tray capacity, multi-height stops, compact installation, faster lifting, and height adjustment to upstream and downstream conveyors. For a 1000mm stroke in an upward installation, the stated vertical transport mass is 60kg; the listed motor speeds are about 2100 r/min for the AZ series and about 3000 r/min for the BL series, with a separate driver and cable also required. In company testing with servo-motor pulse control under a constant load, stopping accuracy for push-up and hanging installations was ±0.03mm; horizontal-installation backlash was 0.3 mm, and stopping accuracy may decrease when the load changes. With the input shaft fixed, backlash in the stroke direction is approximately 0.3 mm for ZCA25, ZCA35, and ZCA45, although this is not a guaranteed value and varies with conditions such as stroke and installation direction. ZCA cannot withstand lateral loads, so a linear guide or similar support is required in the travel direction. If a DC power supply lacks sufficient output capacity or overvoltage tolerance, regenerative energy may activate protection and stop the motor; the guidance is to use a supply with sufficient capacity and tolerance or a battery. For lubrication, old grease is removed with a brush and grease is then applied evenly across the entire Zip Chain.
