POSA Machinery is a professional spindle manufacturer with the most complete product range in Taiwan. Its product range includes lathe spindles, machining center spindles, grinder spindles, and arm-type boring and milling machine spindles. The development of the POSA aerostatic precision spindle was a major milestone in the company's move beyond conventional design. Exploiting the fact that the viscosity of air is only about 1/1000 that of ordinary lubricating oil, the R&D team analyzed and computed an optimized structural design for the air-pressure channels inside the spindle, forming a load-bearing air film between the rotating and stationary parts that replaces the conventional design in which the spindle is supported by ball bearings. This delivers the product characteristics of oil-free environmental friendliness, zero-wear operation and high precision, and meets the demand for domestically produced components in semiconductor wafer, LED and similar machining processes.
