Company profile

Ibaraki Prefectural Government is the public administration of Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, with an economic-development and regional-industry promotion role. Its official activities include support for small and medium enterprises, new product and technology development, industrial technology innovation, venture activities, and industry collaboration. For strategic fields expected to grow, Ibaraki supports prefectural small and medium enterprises that aim to develop new products or enter new fields. The strategic fields expressly listed by the prefecture include space, semiconductors, GX, and fusion energy. The prefecture supports development and demonstration experiments for products aligned with regional issues and social needs, with the goals of practical application and social implementation of advanced technologies, solving regional issues, and creating new industries. Ibaraki also supports operation of the Ibaraki Drone Business Council as part of work to develop the drone industry within the prefecture. For advanced-technology productization, the prefecture supports demonstration experiments conducted by collaborative groups formed by prefectural companies and other participants. That advanced-technology productization support includes subsidies for costs associated with demonstration experiments and accompanying support by experts. The official program history also lists Research Seeds Productization Support from fiscal 2021 through fiscal 2025, Society5.0 Regional Social Implementation Promotion from fiscal 2020 through fiscal 2022, Near-Future Technology Social Implementation Promotion from fiscal 2019 through fiscal 2020, and Ibaraki Robot Demonstration Test and Practical Application Support from fiscal 2016 through fiscal 2018. Ibaraki Prefectural Government promotes semiconductor-related activity through the Tsukuba Cutting-edge Research Park, efforts to attract semiconductor companies, and support for local companies entering Taiwan supply chains. Rather than operating as a single-product vendor, Ibaraki Prefectural Government promotes regional companies and infrastructure related to semiconductors, equipment, materials, parts, sensors, and associated industrial activity.

Exhibits

Ibaraki provides support for prefectural manufacturing small and medium enterprises to participate in overseas exhibitions and combines that support with expert accompaniment for overseas sales-channel development. The manufacturing-overseas-expansion program is implemented by Ibaraki Prefecture together with the Ibaraki Small and Medium Enterprise Global Promotion Organization for manufacturing SMEs within the prefecture. Its stated purpose is to support development of overseas sales channels through overseas exhibition participation support and accompanying support by specialists. A separate element of the program dispatches small and medium enterprise consultants with experience supporting international transactions to companies that are considering overseas sales-channel development or working to resolve management issues related to exports. Eligible recipients for the consultant-dispatch support are Ibaraki-based small and medium enterprises and sole proprietors, including manufacturing companies, that are considering overseas expansion or facing challenges in overseas expansion. The program states that consultants with international-transaction support experience can be dispatched free of charge up to three times to provide overseas-expansion support. In the technology-development area, Ibaraki provides new-product-development support for strategic fields including space, semiconductors, GX, and fusion energy. It also provides support for demonstration experiments aimed at the practical application, productization, and commercialization of advanced technologies. For the Advanced Technology Productization Promotion program, support includes subsidizing demonstration-experiment expenses for collaborative groups and providing expert accompaniment. These supplied programs directly cover overseas exhibition participation support, expert follow-up support, overseas sales-channel development support, strategic-field new-product development, and advanced-technology demonstration and productization assistance.
