TAIWAN DAIKIN ADVANCED CHEMICALS, INC. was established in 2001 as part of Daikin's Chemical Division and set up its Taiwan base in Taipei to sell products made by Daikin's chemical business. Daikin, known globally for air conditioning, also describes itself as a professional No.1 fluorochemicals supplier, with more than 1900 products derived from basic HF and refrigerants and applied in semiconductors, green energy, automobiles, life science, and other fields. TAIWAN DAIKIN ADVANCED CHEMICALS, INC. also has a joint venture with Formosa Plastics (FPC), Formosa Daikin Advanced Chemicals Co., Ltd., which produces HF for semiconductor applications in Kaohsiung. Daikin Industries has developed since its founding in 1924 into a multinational group active in air conditioning, refrigeration, fluorochemicals, electronics, and hydraulic machinery, with production and sales bases in 150 countries. Daikin began fluorocarbon research in 1933 and states that it has accumulated nearly 80 years or more of experience in the field, producing refrigerants, PTFE, PCTFE, FEP, PFA, ETFE, DAI-EL fluoroelastomer, and other fluorochemical products used in machinery, electrical and electronic products, chemicals, and other industries. DAI-EL is used in automotive oil seals, seals, and hoses requiring heat, chemical, and fuel-oil resistance, in semiconductor applications requiring gas tightness, and in electrically insulating wires and related components.
