SMC Automation Co., Ltd. is the Taiwan operation of SMC, supplying pneumatic and factory-automation components; SMC Automation Co., Ltd. was established in 1989, has about 200 employees and holds ISO 9001 certification. Its Taiwan service network has sales locations in eight major cities, more than 120 salespeople and more than 38 distributors, together with logistics warehouses in Taoyuan and Douliu that hold more than 10,000 stocked items. The Douliu factory produces pneumatic cylinders and solenoid valves and assembles temperature-control units; the factory was established in 1998 and began production in February 1999, and it produces about 190 basic cylinder types covering 11,000 items and 800 valve items, with standard products shipped by the next day, emergency same-day shipment and custom support. SMC also operates thermo-chiller service points in Hsinchu, Taichung and Tainan, a thermo-chiller technical repair center in Taoyuan, and showrooms in Taoyuan and Taichung for customer visits and training support. Its thermo-chiller service includes trial use before purchase and 24-hour technical support, and its repair center reports experience with more than one hundred units and working relationships with Applied Materials, Inc., Hermes-Epitek Corporation, Novellus Systems, Inc., Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Limited, United Microelectronics Corporation and Nanya Technology Corporation. Its application coverage includes food manufacturing, beverage manufacturing, semiconductor thermo-chillers with ethylene-glycol compatibility, secondary-battery manufacturing, photovoltaic-cell manufacturing, production-facility piping, film manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing and proposals for improving product life. Its factory-automation range includes compressed-air management systems, temperature-control equipment, electric actuators, vacuum equipment, static-control devices, wireless systems, fluid valves and electro-pneumatic regulators.

The compressed-air management system monitors equipment standby state during production stops and automatically reduces pressure; standby mode lowers pressure to reduce air consumption, two standby pressure-reducing valve models are available, shutoff mode closes the valve when equipment is stopped, and the system visualizes production-equipment status and supports wireless operation. The wireless system uses an independent protocol to reduce interference from other wireless equipment and maintain stable factory-automation communications, with an external-antenna model for metal-shielded control panels and boxes that can reduce wiring costs and work time. Temperature-control equipment uses circulating fluid to control equipment heat-source temperature, helping maintain consistent temperature for equipment quality, reliability and life, and SMC offers trial service and 24-hour technical support. Electric actuators support conveying, lifting, pushing, gripping and rotating applications in a compact, space-saving form with a broad range of expansion products. Vacuum components include vacuum pads in multiple shapes, vacuum ejectors and vacuum regulators for different workpieces and industries, together with vacuum grippers designed for collaborative robots from different brands. Static-control products address discharge-related PCB and IC damage, uneven coating and molding-ejection problems, with bar, nozzle, fan and gun ionizers for different static-removal areas and workpiece sizes. SMC's 2-port and 3-port solenoid valves are used in food and beverage, medical-device and smart-agriculture applications, and food-hygiene products include models compliant with NSF, FDA and HACCP requirements. New product offerings include the MB2/MDB2 Standard Air Cylinder, CS1BN125-□-DCB3566B/DCZ100AZ Large Bore Stainless Steel Cylinder, PLD Pocket Leak Detector, RQ/RDQ Compact Cylinder with Air Cushion, IBV Air Saving Impact Blow Valve, NMG Membrane Nitrogen Generator, JSB Angle Seat Valve, HRLF Low GWP Refrigerant Thermo-chiller/Dual Channel Thermo-chiller for Lasers, and JSY3000-P electro-pneumatic-regulator integrated 64-station compatible compact 5-port solenoid-valve manifold. For semiconductor industries, SMC-made chillers can use ethylene glycol supplied by SMC, with lower initial cost than fluorinated fluids, CO2 power-consumption emissions equal to or less than fluorinated fluids, and a set-temperature range of -20 to 90℃. Chiller applications include grinding-machine jacket cooling to prevent heat-related workpiece changes, glaze-temperature control that reduces uneven application, improves coating-thickness uniformity, stabilizes glaze color and improves yield, nutrient-solution temperature control in plant factories, and partial temperature control in facility cultivation, which is not a drip-irrigation application.
