Company profile
During the Japanese colonial era, the founder discovered that grinding wheels were irreplaceable for industrial and everyday uses, and therefore devoted all his assets to grinding-wheel research, collecting every book on grinding-wheel technology and, after internalizing the knowledge, leaving Carbo Tzujan an encyclopedia of an irreplaceable grinding-wheel business. After the restoration of Taiwan, the "Yi-Li Science Factory" was established in 1946; after 1,215 failures in grinding-wheel R&D and testing, the first 8-inch-diameter grinding wheel was successfully fired in 1948 and is still preserved today at the Yingge Ceramics Museum. In the same year, the company was invited to take part in the first Taiwan Provincial Exposition, the biggest event of the early post-restoration period and the most grandiose industrial and cultural fair; its scale was such that exhibitions held in Taiwan for many years afterward could hardly match it. Running from its opening on October 25, 1948 to December 5, a period of six weeks, the total number of visitors reached about 420,000 — magnificent against the backdrop of that great era. From 1960, as the government began promoting export orientation, Taiwan transformed from an agricultural society into an industrialized one. In 1965, using the "Yi-Li Science Factory," the founder established the "Tzujan Chemical Factory" and imported long-grit silica ore, kaolin, and glaze raw materials to produce raw materials supplied to relevant businesses. He was at the same time elected as the first chairman of the "Taiwan Ceramics Association," leading association members on inspection visits to Japan and introducing new concepts and high-grade raw materials to further advance Taiwan's ceramic-making technology. The founder's contributions to the ceramic capital were not limited to grinding wheels: he secured the laying of natural-gas pipelines for the locality, so that kilns that originally burned coal gradually changed into gas kilns, reducing air pollution; the gas kilns also enabled Yingge's ceramics factories to fire more refined ceramic products. The import of kaolin and the securing of natural-gas pipeline construction were the greatest revolution for all of Yingge's traditional industries, driving local businesses to thrive, chimney by chimney. Carbo Tzujan Industrial Co., Ltd. was established in 1946 and has now lasted more than sixty years; its brand "Carbo Grinding Wheel" is the first domestic comprehensive abrasive-materials manufacturer spanning diamond, CBN, and traditional grinding wheels. After 1,215 failures, the founder successfully fired the first 8-inch-diameter grinding wheel in 1948, casting a successful anchor for Carbo in the grinding-wheel world. For more than seventy years, Carbo has continued to carry on the founder's spirit, providing customers with the best quality and spurring itself to reduce the waste of the earth's resources; even for off-spec products, it is willing to open projects to give the products new life and lower costs, returning new ways of use to customers. Carbo's R&D personnel remain consistent, valuing credibility and a technology-based ethos, continuing research and development, and upholding in the laboratory the goal of providing customers with better and newer products, technologies, and applications. Through long-term sound systems, Carbo has increased employment opportunities and is committed to sustainable operation, so that Carbo people take pride not only in manufacturing industrial products to contribute to society but also in harmony within and beyond their lives. Over the years, Carbo Grinding Wheel has long held ISO 9001 quality-management certification; in recent years it has further obtained ISO 14001 environmental-management-system and ISO 45001 occupational-health-management-system certifications. It provides not only better quality to customers but also the best working environment to employees, hoping that Carbo becomes a good partner with which employees and customers jointly build their enterprise. In the pursuit of sustainable operation, we continuously improve production technology — producing products that meet customer needs and applicable regulatory requirements, implementing the quality-management system, continuously reducing costs, pursuing reasonable profits, and satisfying customers. The successful development of diamond and CBN grinding wheels made us the first domestic comprehensive abrasive manufacturer spanning diamond, CBN, and traditional grinding wheels. Ranked first in the "Other Non-Metallic Mineral Products" category among the China Credit Information Service TOP 5000 large enterprises.
